The three options
For a ₹2,00,000–4,00,000 build in India you are choosing between an agency (₹3,00,000–8,00,000, a team you mostly do not meet, an account manager between you and the work), a freelancer (₹50,000–2,00,000, direct access, single point of failure), and a founder-operator running an incorporated company (₹2,00,000–4,50,000, direct access to the person building it, contractual and invoicing structure of a company).
Where an agency is right
You need multiple parallel workstreams — brand, campaign, site, media — coordinated by someone whose job is coordination. You need a vendor large enough to satisfy a procurement policy. You need guaranteed continuity if one person leaves. These are real requirements and if you have them, hire an agency.
Where a freelancer is right
The scope is small and well-defined, the budget is under ₹1,00,000, and you can tolerate the risk that they take another contract halfway through. For a landing page or a bounded fix this is often the correct and cheapest answer.
Where I am right — and where I am not
Right when: you want the person who builds it to be the person you talk to, you want fixed scope and fixed fee, and you want the commercial structure of a registered company rather than an individual. ZeroTheory AI Pvt Ltd is incorporated; the workforce is a governed agent fleet rather than employees, which is also the system I build for clients.
Wrong when: you need more than four concurrent projects served, you need 24/7 staffed support, you need a large vendor for compliance reasons, or you want brand and advertising services I do not offer. I take four clients a quarter. If you need it faster than that queue allows, an agency is genuinely your better option.
